As of now, we are planning to use a portion of our set to pay tribute to the loudest and maybe the best first wave guitar artist- Randy Holden and his surf band Fender Four. This is in the works so if you are planning to go to the show, come in early and we may pull it off. Outerwave will come in second on a great list of surf bands.

I thought you might also be interested in knowing that The Boardwalkers will be at their Surfadelic heights serving forth a set of tunes that you have likely not heard a surf band do ever. I suggest you not miss it !!

I talked to Dave the other Day, he's worried that the word isnt getting out on this show,. So I thought I'd bump it.
It would be cool to see some mid or Nor Cal , and San Diego area Peeps at this show. it really is a amazing showcase of great players.
Double Naught Spy Car alone is worth the admission,
plus they dont play that often.

Anyone flying in for this one? Cause it looks like it'd be worth it.

Looks like a GREAT show... but the date isn't on the show poster, and I can't seem to take my eyes off it to read the comments.

ok show report time kiddies,
first off, I thought I had been to this place before, and I had to See
Slacktone and the Neptunas for some type of Hot Rod event.
We(Kristena, Warren, and I) got there a tad as traffic on the way from OC to there was Hell!!!.
We got there and The Retro Rockets( Billy and Rob of The Detonators, with
Marty Tippens on Drums, and Doug Forbes of Boardwalkers on Bass) were already playing. We caught about 5 or so songs of them. Very good, new songs that the Dets dont play. Hope to see them play more. sorry we missed some.
Next up was Outterwave, they had been working on a few New Fender IV songs to put into their song list. and I think they played 3 of them in a row. They Really blew alot of us away. Tony was really bashign away, as usually he's a tad more laid back of a drummer. They were definetly the Trad band of the day, to say the least. Then they played a few of their standard covers ,which is a tad on the obscure side of things compared to most cover bands. Good job guys, hope its even better next Sat. with the Detonators and Mr. Neutron. at Suzy's in Hermosa Beach Ca.
Then was a rare appearance of The Reventlos, I wish these guys would play more often. Matt needs to quit on eof his other 5 cover bands( Just Razzin' Matt). For some reason, that I missed Matt and Greg were both playing Orange Gretch hollowbodies. They sounded really good, but I never got the story as to why they switched. I wnet out back for some fresh air and to talk a bit with people, But we could still hear the band very clearly, as the sound system was really good and loud, but not distorted at all.
Next up was Double Naught Spy car. Wow!!!! so good to see them again. I am really bad with their saong titles, but they played a usual set of a mix of songs form their 2 cds. They seemed a bit more loud and rocked up than their normal loungy style. But beign that it was a club and big stage and not a small bar that kinda made sense. I told Marc the bassplayer after that it was so good to see them again, and they need to play more often. And He said that he wants to do another Pitcher House show.
OK now was time for the Boardwalkers suprise. They all came out in total hippy/gypsy attire, Dan Valentie had a white Left handed Strat strung right hannded, so he was obviously doin dth e Jimmy Hendrix thing.
They went on to do about 8 Hendrix songs, vocally, to a T. Everythign was perfect. even the way out there noise solo at the end of Third Stone from the Sun. Great gob guys.
And for the Headlinner The Insect Surfers. what can I say about these guys, that hasnt already been said. Another blistering set of spacey/spaghetti/LinkWrayish/ Garagy surf songs. Its on nights liek this when they are really locked in, with a great PA system, and cool Projections going all over the walls. That I remember why I love The Insects so much. Just simply one of the tightest, most rocking good hearted guys around.
also I met LA Philly Boy, didnt have a long time to chat, as we needed to Hit the road asap, but.. good to see ya at a show, and hope to see ya at many more in the future.

Just want to voice in my appreciation to the Reventlos. A great collection of real good musicians. Great set, and as BTD says, wish we could see more of the band.

Props to Outerwave. Some new songs in the set. Sounding very retro early 60's as usual. Tony was pounding the drums like he was angry at them. Keep it up Tony. Also, the Outerwave CD is outstanding. It is a must have.
Reventlos, you may not be surf but you guys kick serious butt! Great band, great vibe.
