Welcome to my Man... or Astro-Man?
tablature page. This web page has been around in some form or another since June 1998.
It's all Man... or Astro-Man?'s fault. Several factors converged upon me around 1996-1997. One, I became vaguely interested in instrumental surf rock about then. Two, I got a home PC with an internet connection. Three, I had recently begun playing the guitar again after several years off. I read a review of their Experiment Zero CD in a guitar magazine. Intriqued, I went down to the nearest alternative CD store. All they had was Live: Transmissions From Uranus. Oh well, I see they have covered The Love Theme from Mystery Science Theater 3000. I had to get it. I was hooked. Soon after that I began going back and getting all the stuff that had influenced them in the early days: Dick Dale, The Ventures, The (Original) Surfaris, etc. I began seeking more information on this band on the internet. I stumbled across Brian 'Ansigod' McCall's fan page. He had lots of really good guitar tablature. And it all went downhill from there. I began playing my guitar again, having a lot of fun, and learning all about instrumental surf music. I put together my own tablature page around then, mainly to compliment Ansigod's tablature. People took notice and began sending in their own tab. Ansigod's page disappeared some time later, but he did contact me and gave me the go ahead to post his tabs here. A big thank-you to Ansigod, who laid the ground work for this tab archive. |

So you have it. Man... or Astro-Man? eventually changed their style and grew out of surf.
And they have recently went dormant. But I still love
them. I haven't updated this page in some time, but every time I think about taking it down, someone out
there emails me and thanks me for keeping it going. So here you go, enjoy...
A note on the tablature. As with all tablature on the internet, it's probably all wrong. And it's probably incomplete. Even the stuff I did. You should not take tab as gospel, just as a way to get you started. You should invest the time to double check the work and develop your own ear. You'll be a much better player for it. My own theory on tablature is that beginning guitarists create it because they are learning and need to write stuff down. As they grow and mature, they can rely more on their own ears and stop writing tab. This is what happened to me anyway. However, tab is a great way for a beginning player to get going quickly. It helps to play music that you like. Guidelines for Sending Tab. If you want to send me tab, please follow these guidelines:
